SpaceX successfully launched a Falcon 9 rocket to put 60 Starlink satellites into orbit overnight. The mission took place at 11:31 p.m. Eastern Time from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The deployment of the satellites comes just two weeks after the company launched another 60 into orbit. The Starlink constellation of satellites is intended to provide high-speed internet access all over the world, particularly in remote areas. The launch was the company’s third since it launched Demo-2 in May, marking the first crewed mission of its Dragon spacecraft. After the launch, the Falcon 9 booster returned to Earth and successfully landed on the drone ship, Of Course I Still Love You, in the Atlantic Ocean. SpaceX’s success shows that we are getting closer to making internet access available to all parts of the globe. It also highlights how private companies are becoming more invested in space exploration and the vast possibilities it holds.
