So, I came across this interesting article about Sam Altman, who’s the founder of OpenAI. Apparently, he has “no desire” to live on Mars, unlike Elon Musk, who’s all for it.
Basically, Altman thinks that as cool as it sounds to live on another planet, it’s just not practical. He says that it’s way too expensive and dangerous to send people to Mars, and even if we do manage to get there, we’d probably end up living underground in habitats because the surface is so inhospitable.
I kinda get where he’s coming from, you know? I mean, I love the idea of space exploration, and the thought of living on Mars is definitely intriguing. But at the same time, it does seem like a huge undertaking, and there are so many other problems we need to tackle on Earth.
Anyway, the article goes on to talk about how Altman believes we should focus more on improving life on this planet, by investing in things like renewable energy and addressing income inequality. And honestly, I think he’s onto something there. After all, if we can’t take care of our own planet, what’s the point of trying to colonize another one?
Overall, I thought this article was really thought-provoking. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of space travel and forget about the issues we face here at home. But Altman’s comments make you stop and think about what’s really important. Plus, it’s always interesting to hear different perspectives on a topic like this.
