So, I just read this article about the Tesla Model S breaking the lap record for production electric vehicles at the Nürburgring, beating out Porsche. It’s pretty insane!
Basically, Tesla sent their Model S Plaid to the famous German racetrack and managed to clock in a time of 7 minutes and 35 seconds, which beat the previous record held by the Porsche Taycan by a solid 11 seconds. That’s a significant amount of time in the racing world!
I’m not really a car person and don’t know much about racing or lap times, but I do know that Tesla has been making some major moves in the EV world lately. It’s cool to see them take on a competitor like Porsche and come out on top.
One thing I found interesting in the article was that the Model S Plaid used for this record-breaking lap was equipped with a new type of carbon-ceramic brake, which apparently helped it stop more quickly and handle better on the track. I never realized how much of a difference something like brakes could make in a race!
Overall, I think this article speaks to the continued development and advancement of electric vehicles as a legitimate contender in the automotive world. It’s exciting to see companies like Tesla pushing the boundaries and setting new benchmarks for what’s possible with sustainable transportation.
Who knows, maybe one day we’ll have electric cars dominating every type of race out there. In the meantime, I’ll be content with driving my non-record-breaking EV around town.
