Tesla fans delusional about FSD

So, I came across this article the other day with a title that definitely caught my attention: “Tesla fans delusional about FSD.” You know how much I love my Tesla, so I had to read it. Basically, the writer was criticizing Tesla fans who believe that the Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology the company is working on will mean they can just sit back and relax during their commutes. The article argues, quite reasonably I think, that this simply isn’t the case. There are still many limitations to FSD, and it’s important for Tesla fans to understand these limitations because they can be dangerous if you’re not paying attention.

The author’s main point is that FSD isn’t really “full” self-driving yet, because it’s not reliable enough to handle all situations. For example, the technology struggles with complex intersections or roads without clear lines, and it can’t always detect unexpected obstacles like debris on the road. As a Tesla owner, I can definitely attest to this. While I’m really impressed with how well the technology works in many situations, there have been other times when I’ve had to take control of the car because it was having trouble.

But the article also made me think about why Tesla fans believe in FSD so much to begin with. I think in many ways, it’s because they’re excited about the idea of a truly autonomous car. It’s hard not to be drawn in by the futuristic idea of sitting in a car that drives itself. But the truth is, we’re not quite there yet. And until we are, we need to be safe and pay attention when we’re behind the wheel.

Overall, I thought this was an interesting article that raised some good points about the limitations of FSD. As much as I love my Tesla, I think it’s important to be realistic about what the technology can do right now. I’m still excited about the idea of a fully self-driving car, but I also recognize that we’re not quite there yet.
