So I came across this super cool article on CNN about the latest SpaceX mission that just lifted off with a former NASA astronaut and three paying customers aboard! Can you believe it?!
Basically, SpaceX sent four people into orbit in its Crew Dragon capsule atop a Falcon 9 rocket. The crew includes Jared Isaacman, a billionaire who financed the entire mission and is using it as a fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a physician assistant and childhood cancer survivor named Hayley Arceneaux, and aerospace engineer and Iraqi war veteran Chris Sembroski. Oh, and did I mention that the commander of the mission is retired NASA astronaut Michael Hopkins? Talk about squad goals!
One thing that caught my attention was how this mission is a huge milestone for space tourism. For so long, space travel has been reserved for highly-trained astronauts and scientists, but this mission is changing that. It’s exciting to think that in the not-too-distant future, everyday people like you and me could potentially take a trip to space.
As someone who has always been fascinated by space, this mission is especially intriguing to me. Plus, the fact that they are doing it all for a good cause makes it even more admirable.
Overall, I think this SpaceX mission signals a new era of space travel and exploration. It’s amazing to see what humans are capable of achieving when we set our minds to it. Who knows what other incredible things will come out of the space industry in the coming years.
