So I read this awesome article about SpaceX’s Dragon capsule that just successfully undocked from the International Space Station. I mean, how sweet is that? They had two private astronauts on board who went up in the first privately-funded space mission. Talk about living the dream!
Basically, the Dragon capsule was up there for almost six months, visiting the ISS and making sure everything was all good. Now that it’s undocked, it’s gonna take a few more hours to completely leave the ISS and re-enter the Earth’s atmosphere. But once it does, it’s carrying those two lucky private astronauts all the way back down safely.
I remember when I was a kid, I always wanted to be an astronaut. I mean, who wouldn’t want to go to space and float around like a superhero, am I right? But as I got older, I realized how tough it is to become an astronaut, with all the training and qualifications and whatnot. So I’m super impressed that these private astronauts were able to pull it off and actually go to space. It’s like the ultimate bragging rights.
Anyway, I think it’s amazing how SpaceX has been pushing the boundaries of space exploration and making private space travel more of a possibility for the average person. Who knows, maybe someday it won’t be such a far-fetched dream for me after all. But for now, I’ll just have to settle for living vicariously through these private astronauts.
