NASA has recently announced that it will broadcast live coverage of the departure of SpaceX’s Dragon cargo craft station from the International Space Station (ISS). The live coverage will begin on the NASA Television and its website on January 11, 2020, Saturday. The Dragon spacecraft was launched on December 5, 2019, from Cape Canaveral on SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket carrying supplies, hardware, and scientific experiments to the ISS. During its stay, the ISS crew unloaded and loaded cargo, conducted research, and undertook different scientific experiments. The cargo craft station will leave the ISS carrying approximately 3,800 pounds of cargo and scientific samples, which include materials that will investigate the aging process, new therapy for kidney disease, and the formation of metal alloys under microgravity conditions.
NASA has an impressive record of enabling people to experience space exploration through technology. With this coverage of the Dragon cargo craft station’s departure, NASA provides a unique opportunity for anyone to witness a significant moment in space exploration. The coverage enables real-time observations of what happens during the event and highlights the amount of work that goes into these critical missions. Not to mention, when the spacecraft returns to Earth, the successful and efficient retrieval of its contents could impact life on Earth positively. Thus, this event highlights precisely how space exploration has a vital impact on our world.
