I read an interesting article about how Elon Musk is now blocking all links to Substack on Twitter. For those who don’t know, Substack is a platform that allows writers to create paid newsletters on a variety of topics. Apparently, Musk became quite upset after a writer for the platform published an article critical of him, and now he’s taking extreme measures to prevent any more negative press from getting out.
Essentially, if anyone tries to share a link to Substack on Twitter, it will be automatically blocked. Musk’s actions have sparked plenty of debates around free speech and the power of the tech industry.
The thing is, I can kinda see where Musk is coming from. As someone who works in the public eye, I can imagine how frustrating it must be to constantly be bombarded with negative stories and criticisms. But at the same time, blocking an entire platform just because you don’t like one article is a bit extreme.
Overall, I think this is an interesting topic that reflects a larger issue of how much power tech companies have and how they choose to wield it. It’s important for us to be aware of how these decisions might impact our ability to access information and share ideas.
