Ford CEO says Tesla Cybertruck is for 'Silicon Valley people'

As electric trucks become a trending topic, Ford’s CEO Jim Farley has expressed his thoughts on Tesla’s Cybertruck. Farley states that the Cybertruck is primarily for “Silicon Valley people” and that the vehicle will not appeal to the average truck buyer. He points out the Cybertruck’s futuristic and sci-fi design which seems to stray from the traditional look of a pickup truck. On the other hand, Farley believes that the market of electric vehicles will continue to grow and that Ford’s F-150 Lightning, which is more familiar in design, will have a much broader appeal. Furthermore, the F-150 is expected to have a starting price of $39,974, which is in line with the average cost of a traditional pickup truck. As the electric vehicle industry progresses, it is becoming more apparent that not all electric vehicles will have the same design or audience. It is important for automakers to consider their target audience and design accordingly. In the end, the consumer preference will be the deciding factor on whether or not the Cybertruck is a success.
