So, I just read this hilarious article about how Elon Musk trolled Twitter users who were complaining about not getting free blue check marks. Apparently, some people were upset that they didn’t have the verified symbol on their accounts, which is supposed to legitimize their profiles or something. But Elon, being Elon, had a little fun with it.
Basically, he tweeted out that he was giving away free blue check marks to anyone who wanted them, and all people had to do was reply to his tweet with their public key. And of course, people fell for it left and right. It turns out, Elon was just trolling them, because there is no such thing as a free blue check mark.
Now, I don’t know about you, but I’ve always found the whole verified badge thing to be kind of silly. I mean, do we really need a badge to tell us whether someone is who they say they are? Personally, I think it’s more important to focus on the quality of the content people are putting out, rather than whether or not they have a little blue check next to their name.
But hey, that’s just my opinion. At the end of the day, I think it’s pretty funny that Elon was able to play a little prank on the Twitter community. And who knows, maybe he’s got some ideas up his sleeve for how to make the whole verification process a little more interesting in the future.
Overall, I think this article is a great reminder not to take ourselves too seriously on social media. It’s easy to get caught up in the validation game, but at the end of the day, it’s just a bunch of pixels on a screen. So let’s all relax a little, have a laugh, and enjoy the absurdity of it all.
