So, I came across this crazy article about Elon Musk, and honestly, it really ticked me off. Basically, he shut down these public safety Twitter accounts that had potentially life-saving information on them. Can you believe that?
According to the article, there were a few Twitter accounts that would share updates on things like car accidents, fires, or other emergencies to help people avoid those areas and stay safe. But Musk decided to shut them down because he didn’t want anyone to be able to compete with his own traffic tracking service.
Personally, I think that’s pretty selfish. I mean, if these accounts were truly helping people avoid dangerous situations, why would you shut them down just for the sake of your own business? It seems kind of petty to me.
Plus, I think it’s important to have as much information as possible during emergencies. I remember one time when there was a gas leak in my neighborhood, and a neighbor warned everyone on our community Facebook page to stay inside and keep their windows closed. If I hadn’t seen that message, I might have unknowingly breathed in those dangerous fumes. So, having these public safety accounts on Twitter could save lives in the long run.
Overall, I think it’s important to consider the potential consequences of our actions, especially when it comes to taking away resources that could benefit the public. Hopefully, people will still find ways to share this important information despite Musk’s attempts to shut them down.
