So, there’s this crazy article I just read about Elon Musk on Twitter. Apparently, he’s been giving blue check marks to the Twitter accounts of dead celebrities, and people are not happy about it.
Basically, a blue check mark means that the account has been verified as belonging to a public figure, so it seems kind of strange to give that to someone who’s not even alive anymore. A lot of people are calling it disrespectful and a weird power move on Musk’s part.
Personally, I can see both sides of the argument. On one hand, it does seem kind of silly to verify a dead person’s Twitter account. But on the other hand, who are we to say what’s disrespectful to someone who’s no longer here to care?
Overall, I think this article brings up an interesting point about the role of social media in our culture. It’s weird to think that even after we die, we can still have a presence online. But at the same time, it’s a testament to how much of our lives are now lived on the internet. And with people like Musk making strange moves like this, it’s clear that the rules are constantly changing.
